Dragging Canoe Memorial 2006
Little Cedar Mountain

Many of you attended the Dragging Canoe Memorial last year, and I believe a good time was had by all who attended. We, the Chikamaka, will be hosting this event again this year. This will be a Southeastern Culture, not Pow wow, social gathering. The date will be February 25th at the Shellmound Pavilion at Nickajack Dam, (Little Cedar Mountain). This will be fashioned in the same way as last year. There will be a pot-luck, dancing and a time for all to fellowship in this endangered Sacred land, to memorialize Dragging Canoe and his sacrifices made to keep the land against encroaching white settlements.

We will begin at 10 AM [Central, = 11am Eastern] on Saturday February 25, 2006. We look forward to seeing you all there for a time to honor Dragging Canoe and those who fought beside him for the land and culture they all loved.

Please spread the word.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Meeks / jeremy(at)winx.net
